About the Author

Dr. Cristina Saldaña is a bilingual speech-language pathologist of Colombian and Puerto Rican heritage. She has worked for over 20 years in numerous settings, such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and the public-school systems of New York, Connecticut, Georgia, and Mexico. She is the author of several books in the field of communication disorders and the owner of Bilingual Resources for Therapists and Teachers.

Dr. Saldaña’s goal is to educate and motivate professionals in choosing appropriate assessment and therapy materials for their bilingual clients. She stresses that “language should never be a barrier. El idioma nunca debe ser una barrera.” Her workbooks, screening tools, and therapy materials are mainly in English and Spanish so that students can bridge the gap between the languages and adult clients can practice skills at home with their caretakers. Materials are included in other languages too.
